What a pre-shipment inspection actually covers
An inspection report is only as good as the specification it was written against.
A pre-shipment inspection is a comparison, not an opinion. The inspector holds the goods against a written specification and records where they agree and where they do not. If the specification is vague, the report is worthless.
For made-ups we specify composition, thread count or GSM, finished size with tolerance, colour against a physical swatch, stitch density, and packing down to the carton mark. For commodities it is moisture, foreign matter, broken percentage and grain length.
The report we send includes the sampling method, the number of cartons opened, photographs of the drawn samples against the swatch, and a signed statement of the defect count at each severity. Buyers are welcome to appoint their own third-party agency instead; we will hold the container until they release it.
